Shallow waters, shrinking budgets - UDT looks at the challenges facing undersea defence

DIMDEX 2010 Stand No. R101      16th February 2010

Clarion Events, the organisers of Undersea Defence Technology (UDT) conference and exhibition, will be briefing visitors to DIMDEX on the vitally important issues that will be under the spotlight when UDT 2010 takes place at the Congress Centre Hamburg from 8 – 10 June.
Challenges facing the undersea defence community include the need for navies to adapt to operating countermeasures in shallow waters and the challenge of strengthening anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capabilities within the confines of tight budgets. Key areas of focus at this year’s conference include offboard mine countermeasures, maritime security and asset protection, networked operations and unmanned underwater vehicles.

Now in its 23rd year UDT is Europe’s only dedicated undersea defence technology conference and exhibition, bringing together naval procurement specialists, defence scientists and key technology providers for three days of discussion, networking and the examination of new technology. The event covers the entire spectrum of the undersea defence technology sector including areas such as mine warfare, operation and training, combat systems and environmental effects and monitoring. The emphasis is very much on preparing for the future by indentifying today the factors that are shaping tomorrow’s landscape.

Running concurrently with the conference in the same venue will be an exhibition featuring a diversity of products, technologies and services for the undersea defence sector. Exhibitors range from prime contractors to smaller specialist suppliers. For a full exhibitor list visit www.udt-europe.com
