Force Protection is delighted to confirm that it has signed up once again to be a major sponsor of this year’s Armed Forces Day national event, which takes place on Saturday 26 June in the Welsh capital city, Cardiff.
Force Protection supported the UK’s first ever Armed Forces Day last summer and is proud to be involved for the second time in a day that offers the opportunity for the nation to show its support for the whole of the Armed Forces’ community: from currently serving troops and their families to veterans and cadets. During the day, events take place all around the UK with the national event having its focal point in Cardiff, supported by the Welsh Assembly Government, Cardiff Council and the Ministry of Defence.
As well as showcasing equipment currently being used by the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force, the event is a chance to learn more about life in the services and meet members of local units. The day will feature a variety of activities in celebration of the bravery of all UK servicemen and women, including a tri-service parade, static, dynamic and arena displays and an evening concert.
David Hind, Managing Director of Force Protection Europe, has recently had the opportunity to meet a group of soldiers after their return from a tour of Afghanistan. He said: “The nature of our work means that we have been privileged to gain an insight into the challenges of current operations so we are immensely proud to be involved with this event again. The courage and dedication demonstrated by the ongoing work of our servicemen and women deserves to be honoured and Armed Forces Day gives us the chance to reflect and show our appreciation for their tremendous bravery and hard work.”
Force Protection is hoping to have one of its renowned Mastiffs on display during the event. These vehicles have been credited with saving many lives while in use in both Afghanistan and Iraq. In addition to this the company plans to showcase its latest survivability technology – a light protected patrol vehicle, known as the Ocelot, which has been jointly developed by Force Protection and automotive specialists Ricardo plc.
